Braves: Ronald Acuña Jr. made Joc Pederson's pearls look like child's play

Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. rocked a chain before the MLB All-Star Game that put Joc Pederson’s famous pearl necklace to complete shame.

En route to helping the Atlanta Braves win the 2021 World Series, Joc Pederson’s jewelry became one of the biggest phenomena in baseball as the power-hitting outfielder rocked a set of pearls around his neck. This became his signature amid the Braves’ success, even throwing pearl necklaces into the crowds of fans at the World Series parade.

But Pederson has been in San Francisco for two years now, so apparently Ronald Acuña Jr. decided it was his time to take the Braves jewelry crown for himself.

On the red carpet for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game, Acuña showed off his truly absurd chain to the media and fans, a chain on which the pendant featured a shockingly realistic depiction of the Braves superstar doing his “too small” celebration.

Probably safe to say that Acuña won’t be wearing that chain on the diamond in the way that Pederson did with his pearls. You’re not swiping 40 bags before the All-Star break with that thing weighing you down.

Make no bones about it, that’s a ridiculous piece of jewelry that 99.9% of the world’s population would look truly silly trying to wear around their necks. But with Acuña, it fits perfectly. The fun-loving and transcendentally talented Braves star can, frankly, wear whatever he wants — but with his celebratory nature as a player, rocking a chain that shows one of his iconic celebrations just makes sense in ways it wouldn’t for other players and people.

And you thought the Home Run Derby chain was going to be the most gaudy piece of jewelry in Seattle this week. Bet you feel silly now!
